![Iâm a 30 year old therapist⊠and Iâm not ashamed to admit:
1. I have moments where I feel like Iâm not âqueer enoughâ or âfat enoughâ to fully connect with my community, even though I know these are just societal expectations.
2. Iâve been in therapy for years, and there are still things Iâm working through when it comes to my own body image and self-worth.
3. I sometimes avoid talking about my own pleasure because it feels like thereâs so much pressure for me to have it all together when I help others with theirs.
4. I still struggle with imposter syndrome, wondering if Iâm âqualified enoughâ to do the work I do.
5. I sometimes find it difficult to talk about my own queerness in a professional setting, even though itâs such a big part of my identity.
6. Iâve had to unlearn so many toxic ideas about love, relationships, and sex that were taught to me by religion, and sometimes I still catch myself thinking these unhealthy thoughts.
7. There are times when I feel deeply frustrated by how much emotional labor I give to others and not enough to myself.
8. There are days when I feel overwhelmed by my own emotions and wonder how I can hold space for others when I feel like I canât hold my own.
9. I sometimes question if Iâm doing enough for my clients. Thereâs always that pressure to be the âperfectâ therapist.
10. I still feel nervous speaking up about body acceptance and fat liberation in rooms full of people who donât get it yet.
We all have our moments of doubt, but thatâs part of the journey. Lifeâs ups and downs shape us, but itâs the moments of connection and self-compassion that make it all worth it âš

![The most connected, fulfilling sexual experiences often start with the awkward, clunky, or vulnerable conversations weâd rather skip.
The ones about boundaries, preferences, past experiences of trauma, STI status, contraception, or even just âwhat do you actually like?â
These conversations can sometimes feel like theyâre impacting spontaneity or seduction, but they help to build trust, which is pretty hot imho! They create a shared language for safety and pleasure, especially important for people whoâve been taught to disconnect from their bodies or to prioritise someone elseâs comfort over their own.
âGood s-xâ isnât just about technique or chemistry, itâs about feeling seen, safe, and respected enough to show up as your full self. And that usually starts outside the bedroom, with a conversation that might feel a little bit âuns-xy,â but can ultimately open the door to something much deeper, more honest, and infinitely more pleasurable.

![Did you know trauma doesnât just live in your memories and mind? It can also show up in your body tooâespecially during intimacy.
If youâve ever felt:
âdisconnected
âself-conscious
âor overwhelmed
during intimate moments, this is not your fault.
Trauma has a way of interfering with pleasure, and itâs something many folks, especially those navigating fatphobia or queerphobia, experience.
Hereâs the thing: trauma doesnât mean youâre broken. Feelings of hypervigilance or emotional disconnection? This is often a result of your body trying to protect you. Itâs a survival response, not a failure.
The good news is, healing is possible. You deserve intimacy that feels safe, connected, and pleasurable. If this resonates with you, it might be time to book in for your first appointment with a s-xologist. Reach out today and we can start your journey together.

![A little reminder đ
As a Sexologist, I often emphasise how deeply our connection with ourselves influences every aspect of our s-xual lives.
Developing a healthy, curious, and affirming relationship with your own s-xuality is foundationalâitâs where empowerment begins!
Understanding your body, desires, and boundaries is not just about personal satisfaction; itâs about self-awareness. When you take the time to explore what pleasure looks and feels like for you, you can cultivate a sense of agency over your s-xuality. This isnât just about touch, itâs about listening to your body, honouring your needs, and rejecting societal shame around self-pleasure or s-xual expression.
Creating this relationship also means learning to communicate with yourself.
Ask:
đŁïž What brings me joy?
đŁïž What sensations feel good?
đŁïž What makes me feel safe and desired?
So, let me remind you: explore yourself, be curious, and treat your s-xuality with care and compassion đ«¶đ»

![Let me be clear: your body, exactly as it is right now, is worthy of pleasure.
đ«łđ»
đ€
Yet, in a world that constantly tells us our bodies need to look, act, or exist in a certain way to be âdeservingâ, the idea of embracing pleasure can feel radicalâeven rebellious.
Pleasure can take countless forms: the warmth of sunlight on your skin, the joy of movement, the taste of your favourite meal, the release of a belly laugh, or the intimacy of touch. Itâs about connection; connecting with yourself, your desires, and sometimes, the world around you.
Society often weaponizes shame to convince us that pleasure is something for âotherâ bodies... straight-sized, younger, or simply ones deemed more âacceptableâ. But thatâs a lie designed to disconnect you from your own power. By reclaiming pleasure, youâre not just rejecting these harmful messages; youâre embracing your inherent worth.
